چکیده

A commercial SiO2 modified by the addition of a TiO2 layer on its surface and pore walls offers support for metallocene-based ethylene polymerization catalysts with 35% improved catalytic activity. The effect such modification catalyst particle fragmentation during reactions were assessed. This was performed exposing internal cross-section several Ti/SiO2-based metallocene particles, polymerized at wide range reaction conditions, Focused-Ion Beam Scanning Electron Microscope (FIB-SEM), followed semi-quantitative analysis polymer, macropores each 2D image obtained. titanation lead to framework that fractures earlier more efficiently. evidenced presence empty (polymer-free) cracks along dense-shell, found extensively in Ti-modified particle, which also resulted sustained particles macroporosity course reaction.

Modelling the catalyst fragmentation pattern in relation to molecular properties and particle overheating in olefin polymerization

A two-dimensional single particle finite element model was used to examine the effects of particle fragmental pattern on the average molecular weights, polymerization rate and particle overheating in heterogeneous Ziegler-Natta olefin polymerization. A two-site catalyst kinetic mechanism was employed together with a dynamic two-dimensional molecular species in diffusion-reaction equation. The i...

Titanium(IV) catalysts with ancillary imino-spiroketonato ligands: synthesis, structure and olefin polymerization.

New titanium(IV) complexes having two bidentate β-iminoethyl-spiro[4,5]decan-6-onato ligands with various N-aryl substituents have been synthesized. X-ray crystal structure analysis reveals that these titanium complexes all exhibit a C2-symmetric conformation with a distorted octahedral geometry, although the specific orientation of the ligands around the titanium center varies with the identit...

Active site nature of magnesium dichloride-supported titanocene catalysts in olefin polymerization

Heterogeneous Ziegler-Natta and homogeneous metallocene catalysts exhibit greatly different active sitenature in olefin polymerization. In our previous study, it was reported that MgCl2-supported titanocenecatalysts can generate both Ziegler-Natta-type and metallocene-type active sites according to the type of activators. The dual active site nature of the supported titanocene catalysts was furt...

Surface science of single-site heterogeneous olefin polymerization catalysts.

This article reviews the surface science of the heterogeneous olefin polymerization catalysts. The specific focus is on how to prepare and characterize stereochemically specific heterogeneous model catalysts for the Ziegler-Natta polymerization. Under clean, ultra-high vacuum conditions, low-energy electron irradiation during the chemical vapor deposition of model Ziegler-Natta catalysts can be...
